Article Published on 1&1’s New Data Center in Lenexa, Kansas
On Tuesday, October 26, 3008, I published a post on my interview with 1&1’s CEO, Oliver Mauss. Today’s post is on an article I wrote describing 1&1’s new data center in Lenexa, Kansas, featured exclusively on Gawkwire. If you read my previous post on 1&1, you already know that 1&1 is 7 million customers strong. That said, their new data center in Lenexa, Kansas, a tornado hotspot, is their first data center in the USA. Based in Germany, 1&1 is dominating new markets across the globe. As I was writing the article, I learned the company offers some new advanced technology in data center design. But the most interesting aspect is how they turned a warehouse into a tornado proof state-of-the-art data center facility that holds 40,000 servers.

One on One with 1&1’s New CEO, Oliver Mauss
Back in July at HostingCon 2008 in Chicago, I interviewed 1&1’s new CEO, Oliver Mauss. When I returned from the convention, I took all my notes and wrote up a nice two page article outlining everything Mauss and I discussed during the interview. For those of you who are not familiar with 1&1 Internet Inc, they are one of the largest, if not the largest, web hosting services and domain name registration companies in the world. Now providing services to more than 7 million people across the globe, Mauss gave me some insight on how they do it and where they plan on launching their services next.
