Interviews

Back in July at HostingCon 2008 in Chicago, I interviewed 1&1’s new CEO, Oliver Mauss. When I returned from the convention, I took all my notes and wrote up a nice two page article outlining everything Mauss and I discussed during the interview. For those of you who are not familiar with 1&1 Internet Inc, they are one of the largest, if not the largest, web hosting services and domain name registration companies in the world. Now providing services to more than 7 million people across the globe, Mauss gave me some insight on how they do it and where they plan on launching their services next.

To view the article, download the PDF version of Ping! Zine’s magazine from the Ping! Zine’s web hosting magazine site. Then flip to page 12 and read “Interview with Oliver Mauss, CEO of 1&1.”

Mauss discussed the success of 1&1’s entry into the US market and described the business model they use to reach new markets. The interview does not cover every aspect of 1&1, but will give you some insight as to how large the web hosting services company is and how they plan on surpassing their current 7 million customer mark.

More interviews are on the way including Cloudmark, MediaTemple, Tucows/OpenSRS, Microsoft, and groupSPARk. Not all interviews will be published in Ping! Zine magazine - some will be posted in Ping! Zine’s sister site, Gawkwire, a site dedicated to the latest news, interviews, reviews, and media for the technology, software, and hosting industries.
